Spring Carnival

This colourful lady was quickly done for a poster for a fun event that is being organised by the Rotary Club of Elsternwick - a fashion show and a yummy 3 course meal. I'm probably the last person in the world to care about fashion but orange, pink and blue are apparently hot trends in 2008, or something. I don't know. But that was lucky for me because I did the entire poster without knowing this.

The poster is up in some places already and there have been a lot of enquiries about tickets for the event - which is good to know! My poster's doing it's job. Phew.

Other than this I haven't been doing a lot of painting or drawing this week. I've been wasting a lot of my time playing retro videogames, watching Batman: The Animated Series on YouTube and sleeping too much... but I promise I'll do more art this week. Honest!

The Cat and the Sax

A quick acrylic painting done while watching The Simpsons, then Medical Emergency, and then Spicks & Specks... Wednesday is a fun night for tv watching!

Woof dog

I'm trying to be a bit more expressive and painterly in my paintings, tonight I had a play around with my acrylics and painted this. It's on canvas board that has crumpled up tissue paper sealed onto it, so it has a nice texture to it. Makes it a bit more interesting.

Yardbear Suite

Ahh, memories. While I was painting this I was thinking of all the great times I had in highschool playing the double bass. Back then I could play the thing for hours, and the skin on my fingers was hard as a rock. Now I can't play for 10 minutes without getting a blister.

Through learning the double bass in highschool, I discovered jazz music, which now is one of my most favourite things in the world. I think that's the best thing I got from school.

Puss in Boots

I am feeling inspired by Mary Blair lately. Initially I just drew the horse, but then thought it was a bit boring by itself so I threw a cat on there as well. Then I decided it could be more interesting by making him Puss in Boots. And there you go.
